Tory Slippy
Youth Pastor
pastor_tory@oaklandnaz.org

Tory David Slippy was born in Mentone, Indiana and lived there for two short years with his older sister and brother as well as his parents.  On getting a call from the Lord, Tory's father moved to Cedar Rapids to serve Calvary Baptist as their Youth Pastor and the family moved with him.  As time went on the Slippy family grew until they were a family of 10.  Tory was homeschooled, k-12th grade but also played basketball and baseball in the Marion Homeschool leagues.

Tory began working full time at Chick-fil-A at the age of 16 and also took some Kirkwood classes until the Lord sent him to go to Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska. He double majored in Biblical Studies and Youth/Children Ministry and graduated May of 2017. Having a passion for serving the Lord and His Family, Tory obeyed the call to come back to his hometown, Cedar Rapids, to look for ministry opportunities. The Lord graciously lead Tory to Oakland and Tory accepted the call to be the Youth Pastor at Oakland church and is so excited to be able to serve and love this church!  Tory married his sweetheart, Emily, during the pandemic of 2020!  She enjoys helping him with his ministry.

Some of Tory's hobbies are playing the guitar, watching movies, taking long walks in God's creation, playing sports of various kinds and hanging out with his friends and family.

Tory enjoys serving people of all ages but is most passionate in helping teens come to know their Creator. The cost of the cross has impacted Tory's life and he has surrendered his everything to the One who has given him everything. Tory's desire is to see Christ glorified and lifted up here at Oakland and wants to see children fall in love with the same Jesus he has fallen in love with. All for the glory of God!
